- Term 3 2020 Upcoming Events
The end of Term 2 is on Friday 3rd July and it has been without doubt one of the most challenging terms for so many of us. Last Friday we met as a group of Principals in Southern Catholic schools to reflect on the past weeks. We reflected individually and as a group on the crucible moments in relation to our own leadership and our School in relation to what we would do more, do less or do differently moving forward. One of my key reflections was that during this time I have been more able to be present on site at school and the importance of the morning greetings and afternoon farewells.
While we await instructions in relation to the easing or changing of restrictions for parents on site it is important to reflect on the way in which our students have adapted to the changed start of the day. We have all commented and are marvelling at just how settled the majority of our children are as they enter school. They are calm and confident to start the day; ready to engage, feeling proud, feeling independent. Our children have become more capable and empowered.
In looking forward to Term 3 and what this may mean for drop off and pick up we are committed as a school to continuing to have staff at the gate and Kiss and Drop to welcome and assist children as they arrive at school, giving parents the option to continue developing their child’s independence. If parents do return to bringing their child into the school grounds I hope that children will continue to carry their own bags, unpack them ready for the day and that parents will realise the importance of the teacher in the class devoting the early morning times to the children.
I would like to thank all in our community for your support, encouragement and understanding during the past term and I look forward to seeing everyone back for the first day of Term 3 on Monday 20th July.
Kind Regards
Bernadette Brooks
In this time of bewilderment and fear, we ask you to give us the courage to take care of one another as Jesus did. For those who are ill, especially those who are frightened and alone, for those who cannot access healthcare, for those who are homeless and lost, hear our prayer!
In the midst of our sadness and grief, we ask you to give us words to comfort one another. For those who are dying, and for those who have already died from this virus, for those who tend them and for those with no one to tend them, hear our prayer!
In the midst of our own anxiety we ask you to give us the courage to support one another as you would. For those who are unexpectedly unemployed, for employers who share what they can, for our government and financial institutions and those who lead them, hear our prayer!
In the midst of our struggle to ensure a healthy future for all who live on this planet, we ask you to give us the hope that surpasses our current understanding. For healthcare workers, spiritual leaders and teachers, hear our prayer!
In the midst of our growing awareness that all life on Earth is connected, we ask for the heart to respect and cherish all life. That all peoples recognize that we are all your children, hear our prayer!
We trust in you and your power working in us. Please hear and answer our prayers.
Amen!

Grade 2H used oil pastels and edicol dye to decorate our Winter Warmer beanies and mittens.
For 2020, Catholic Education Tasmania will commence the mid-year reporting process at the beginning of Term 3 with adjusted reports. Mid-Year Progress Statements, will be released via our Compass management system by Thursday 6th August. Could all parents please assist us in ensuring that students are wearing the correct uniform on the correct day. We have a number of students in Grade 3 and 6 who continue to wear their sports uniform on days when they do not have sport. Students in Grade 3 to 6 must also wear their formal school shoes with their formal uniform, not sports shoes.
A note from a parent is required for any variations to the uniform expectations. It is also advisable for students to have a raincoat.
We want to assure families of the importance of their child's enrolment at Holy Rosary Catholic School, and we want to ease any financial pressure families may be put under due to economic factors. As communicated previously, if any family is experiencing financial hardship please do not hesitate to email me (bernie.brooks@catholic.tas.edu.au). We want to take this opportunity to be clear that no child will be denied a Catholic Education based on financial reasons. Your child's enrolment is important to us and we want to support all families the best we can in these challenging circumstances. Please do not hesitate to email me.

Dear families,
Following the conclusion of the fare amnesty period, from Monday 6 July all Metro Tasmania services will resume fare collection and boarding from the front door.
We know the return to normal service will be an adjustment for many of our customers.
Perhaps most pertinent is that Metro is still asking passengers to avoid cash payments on board, or to have the correct change if they must pay cash, wherever possible. A simple way to avoid cash payments is to carry a Greencard (which are currently free) and can be managed through a Greencard online account, which allows passengers to top up online and even set up an automatic top up, so they never have to worry how much money is on their Greencard.
A flyer has been attached for your convenience. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
Thank you

School Banking Day will be Wednesday's (Tuesday's for Kinder Maroon), commencing on Tuesday 21 July for Kinder Maroon and Wednesday 22 July for the rest of the school.
School Banking is a fun, interactive and engaging way for students to learn about money and develop good savings habits. For each weekly deposit made at school, students will receive a silver Dollarmites token. Once they collect 10 tokens, they can redeem them for a School Banking reward.
If your child has previously participated in School Banking, or has an existing Commonwealth Bank Youthsaver account, they can start banking straight away by bringing their Dollarmites deposit wallet to school on their School Banking day.
If your child has lost their deposit wallet, please contact our School Office or visit any Commbank branch for a replacement.
If you would like to know more about School Banking, please ask for a 2020 School Banking program information brochure from the school office or visit www.commbank.com.au/schoolbanking
