Each year since 1945, the Children’s Book Council of Australia has brought children and books together through CBCA Book Week. During this week we celebrate Australian children's authors and illustrators. This year’s theme: Old Worlds, New Worlds, Other Worlds tells us of the opportunity books give us to escape into another world where you can imagine and be anything you want to be. This year’s artwork was designed by Shaun Tan.
Holy Rosary celebrated on Monday with a wonderful Book Week parade which saw many creative and colourful costumes. Below are some photos of these wonderful creations.

CHANGE… we often talk about change yet do little to implement change. For much of humanity, we like and embrace certainty and predictable life. We are more comfortable that way.
We are moving into change in nature presently, heading into Spring. This is when ‘Mary time’ becomes a gift one can embrace and allow the spirit to be nurtured and warmed as one allows the fire of God’s Spirit to prepare for new life to awaken in time.
For many of us, it is a time of new beginnings and fresh starts as the earth awakens once again. For people in these areas, it becomes a time of stretching, breathing deeply of the newness of life… watching eagerly for what is sprouting. This is also a time when one can embrace God’s presence in the gardens, the bush, the paths, the lakes… being encouraged to let God awaken one’s spirit to new life.
God, please allow each one of us to embrace the season of life that is at hand for us
whether in nature or whether in our spirits.
Help us to embrace each moment as You choose to move our spirits through the changing process.
Amen.
Grade 3H used the shortlisted non-fiction book 'Hold On - Saving the Spotted Handfish' as inspiration for creating our worlds. The theme for Book Week this year is Old Worlds, New Worlds, Other Worlds. Here are some of our ideal worlds.
During Term 3 our Grade 4 classes have been participating and completing the Australian Religious Literacy Assessment. The Religious Literacy Assessment provides information about the way our students in Grade 4 process and express their religious knowledge. ‘Religious’ literacy refers to the way children use their literacy skills to communicate their understanding of the religious tradition. It is an external Diocesan assessment which consists of multiple choice / short answer questions reflecting the outcomes of the Religious Education Curriculum. The students complete this assessment online using their ipads. Our Holy Rosary Staff, including our Grade 4 teachers and Religious Education Coordinator, Mrs Libby Piesse, analyse the data gathered from the Religious Literacy Assessment to inform future learning and teaching in the domain of Religious Education.
We thank our Grade 4 students, Mrs Spotswood, Mr Beven and Mrs Libby Piesse for their participation and completion of this Assessment Task.
KidFit Weight/Strength Program
During the week some of our students had the opportunity to visit Elements of Strength and participate in the KidFit Weight/Strength Program.
National eSmart Week is a week where schools come together to promote the smart, safe and responsible use of digital technology. This year we will particulary focus on communicating online with each other in kind and responsible ways. When we post things onine we need to consider:-
- Is it true?
- Is it necessary?
- Is it kind?
Last week I sent a letter home to parents of our grade 5 students outlining that grade 7 enrolments for our current grade 5 students are due on Friday 10th September 2021. Families may like to make appointments where possible to tour schools and collect enrolment forms from Colleges. If anyone needs support we are happy to work with families to complete enrolment forms or provide contacts in Colleges.
St Mary’s College is holding an Open Morning on Tuesday 7 September from 9.30am – 11.30am.

The Sacrament of Confirmation will take place on Sunday, November 7th, 2021 at St Bernard's parish. Children who have made their First Communion are invited to be confirmed. Parents are requested to confirm their children's participation with Mrs Libby Piesse. Details on preparation will be provided at the end of term 3.
Unfortunately this year due to supply pressures we will not be able to host a Father’s Day Stall. We will however celebrate the special people in our lives with a family breakfast. Please save the date for this special occasion - all family members welcome!
