The Mid-Year Progress Statement Reports will be made available on Thursday 6th August via COMPASS for you to read. Instructions for how to access these will be sent home shortly. Reports will no longer be sent home printed in hard copy form.
Due to the period of time spent working with the learning@home platform this year, Catholic Education Tasmania have made a decision that mid year reports for 2020 will take on a modified format and content. They will be called “Statements of Progress”, rather than a report, but will contain an outline of progress against the year level Achievement Standards for students across the main learning areas of English, Mathematics, Science, Humanities and Social Sciences and Religious Education. There will be no individual comments for these learning areas.
Student progress will be reported against a three point scale (developing, consolidating and extending) from Prep - Grade 6, rather than the traditional 5 point scale (minimal, partial, sound, high and outstanding) for Prep - Grade 2 and (A-E) for Grades 3 - 6.
These progress statements will contain one generalised comment regarding a student’s overall progress so far this year, their participation with the learning@home platform, how they’ve transitioned back to classroom learning and their wellbeing during this period. Students receiving a narrative report will receive an outline of progress against their own individual learning plan goals in the areas of English, Mathematics and Religious Education.
The key purpose of these modified reports is to provide information about student progress to parents and guardians that will complement and sit alongside the teacher feedback that was given on student work during the time spent utilising the learning@home platform.
At Holy Rosary Catholic School we are also offering optional opportunities for parents and guardians to meet with teachers during Week 4 to support the achievement and areas for growth outlined in the Progress Statements. The available dates and times are outlined below:
- Tuesday, August 11 between 3:10 - 4:30
- Wednesday, August 12 between 3:10 - 5:00
- Thursday, August 13 between 3:10 - 4:30
All bookings are to be made using COMPASS via the Conferences tab. Bookings will be made available from 3pm Thursday 6th August and will close at 3pm Monday 10th August. Alternate and mutually agreed upon times may also be discussed and organised with teachers. These can now be held on the school site and parents are advised they will need to follow the social distancing requirements. Bookings can be made for these via Compass, noting that they are optional. Instructions for how to do this are also attached. Please note there is also an opportunity for the teacher(s) to request a meeting and this will be communicated in the report. It is expected that parents/guardians will attend these meetings as part of our partnership in learning.
Please note that these conversations are optional for all families unless a meeting has been requested by the teacher(s).
