Dear Parents and Guardians,
Congratulations to all our Grade 3-6 students for participating in our school swimming carnival! Your enthusiasm, sportsmanship, and effort made the event a fantastic success. Whether you won a race, achieved a personal best, or simply gave it your best shot, you should all be proud. Well done!
Our team of selected swimmers will be joining students from other southern Catholic Schools today, Friday 28th March - we wish them well and hope they know how proud of them we are!
We are blessed to have the creek on our land at the bottom of the school. Many of our classes take advantage of the wonderful opportunity this provides for our students to connect with nature while enhancing many other benefits to their learning experiences. These benefits encompass a range of educational and social & emotional aspects such as:
- Providing hands-on, experiential learning in an outdoor setting
- Enhances problem-solving, creativity, and critical thinking.
- Promotes physical activity and motor skill development.
- Boosts focus and engagement in learning.
- Encourages respect for nature and sustainability practices.
- Develops an understanding of ecosystems and conservation.
- Builds teamwork and communication skills.
- Increases resilience, confidence, and independence.
One of the highlights of the week for many of our students was captured in this photo!
Yesterday afternoon, our Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander students gathered together for a welcome barbecue and opportunity to share and learn about their culture. We have almost fifty students from Kindergarten to Grade 6. This was a great way to build a sense of community and celebrate culture. Thank you to Mr Ben Johnson for organising this.
We are rapidly approaching the end of the first term. As communicated previously, the last two days of Week 10 this term are Student Free Days. Thursday is an allocated planning day for staff, and Friday allows the opportunity for all Catholic School staff to participate in a Spirituality Day. The last day of term for students is Wednesday, 9th April.
Catholic Education Tasmania (CET) has recently launched a new policy - Attendance Policy. Previously, we operated with our own policy and guidelines from CET. This Attendance Policy aims to ensure that all students maximize their learning opportunities and maintain a strong commitment to their education. In this newsletter is a link to the new policy. There are many associated infographics we will be sharing with you over the coming weeks, highlighting the importance of every day and every minute at school. We appreciate your support in fostering a culture of commitment and responsibility.
Kind regards
Susan McGann
