Principals Report

On Friday we held our Grade 3 to 6 Athletics carnival at Abbotsfield Park. It was a slightly different Athletics Carnival to previously due to COVID restrictions but all students participated with enthusiasm. I would particularly like to thank and acknowledge Mr Ben Johnson for his organisation and preparation and the staff who assisted with set up. It was wonderful to see Mel Wise back to assist on crutches and we look forward to welcoming her back soon. Thank you to our parents who supported and cheered from their cars. The students certainly appreciated your presence. Congratulations to Young who were the team winners of the Athletics Cup on this day.
November is always an incredibly busy month for school events. On Friday selected students will compete in the Southern Cathlolic Interschool Sports Carnival. This weekend we will have 4 teams competing in the Southern Basketball Championships in different venues across Hobart. Thank you to our parents who have committed to ensuring their children attend training and our coaches and managers of these teams. A very big thank you to Mrs Kate Clark, a past HRCS parent, who continues to lead, organise and coordinate our basketball teams. The following weekend our students will compete in the First Lego League Competition at St Virgil's College under the expert guidance of Mrs Catherine Midson. We wish all our students the very best in these extra curricular activities and are thankful that we can still provide these opportunities in 2020. Photos and more detailed reports will be in the newsletter next fortnight.
Congratulations to our students who were nominated by the staff for the Glenorchy City Council Safer Communities Young People Awards and presented with their awards on Monday. Congratulations also to Paul and Michelle Crennan who were awarded the ‘Outstanding Contribution as a Friend in Catholic Schools’ award at the Catholic Education Commission Awards for 2020.
