In Grade 1 we have been learning about Ash Wednesday. On Ash Wednesday we have the Cross drawn on our heads and it is drawn with the ashes from the celebrations of last years Palm Sunday.  The ashes remind us that God has the power to make new life grow out of ashes. Ash Wednesday is the day before the forty days of Lent begins. In Grade One, we were very lucky to have Father Suresh visit us in our classroom to receive the cross on our foreheads.  As a whole Grade, we talked about ways we could grow and become better people. We recorded these on paper, which we joined together to make a paper chain to hang in our classroom.
