Principals Report

Principal_Students.jpgOn Monday we welcomed 28 delegates from the National Catholic Education Commission who travelled to Hobart from dioceses across Australia where kindergartens are completely separate from the compulsory years of schooling. We were one of two schools in the Hobart area selected for this visit and the delegates were keen to see how we cater for 4-year-olds in a school setting. They were  particularly interested to hear some of the following:
  • How we structure the program for 4-year-olds
  • How our Early Years Team works together
  • How the EYLF informs the kindergarten program
  • How kindergarten children interact with the rest of the school community

This was a wonderful opportunity to demonstrate our Kindergarten program, Early Years space and what we are working on together. Thank you to Mrs Gemma Bennett and Mrs Libby Peisse and our Early Years staff for their preparation for this visit and their willingness to show and demonstrate our exemplary practices.

This week we farewell and thank Mrs Natalie Cockburn who is commencing Maternity leave. We wish Natalie, her husband James and family all the very best as they welcome a new family member. We welcome Miss Rachel French who will be teaching in Grade 4CL on Monday and Tuesday in Term 4 while Mrs Renee Ludwig will be in Grade 4CL on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

I wish all our families and staff a restful two-week break and look forward to welcoming you all back in Term 4 on Monday 14th October. The first week will be a busy one with celebrations for Holy Rosary Week including Grandparents and Special Persons Day on Thursday 17th October and the Grade 3 to 6 Athletics Carnival on Friday 18th October.
