Inter-schools Cross Country

On a balmy Autumns day, the aerobic elite from Holy Rosary Catholic School once again ventured across the mighty Derwent to the property developers dream that is the Rokeby Police Academy for the 2019 Inter Primary Cross Country Carnival.  A slight change to the course meant that competitors no longer had to navigate crossing the road and being booked for jaywalking. A nice change up and a big thanks need to go to the organisers for that. As our nervous grade 3's looked on, the might of the Claremont flyer, Mitch Noble, was on display as he charged to the finish line searching for that top ten position. The Grade 4 girls followed, charging down the straight Madison Lennox leading the way with a terrific performance. Next up was the grade 3's in their first ever Inter Primary Carnival, the boys, lead by a tremendous performance from Riley Blake had 4 runners within the top 10.  The girls were magnificent also with Asha Triffett and Hollie McCormack zooming around the course. In grade 5 Brianna Burdon and Imogen Salter continued where they left off last year in this event pushing each other all the way, both finishing in the top ten! The day finished with our grade 6's in their last Inter Primary Cross Country for Holy Rosary.  Jesse Cox led by example battling a cold and the crisp breeze that began to haunt the afternoon runners to finish in the top ten for the fourth year running! Overall it was a great day and I'd like to thank our wonderful office staff, Ms Reeve and Miss Wise for their amazing admin support on the day, Mr Simonetis and Mr Zegfeld for the tent set up and of course Mr Rickwood for his supervisory expertise!
