News from Grade 6
What a busy start to Term 3 it has been for us in Grade 6!
We were very excited to welcome a new student, Hussain, who has joined not only a new school but also a new country. It’s been wonderful getting to know him and helping him settle in.
We visited Guilford Young College to learn about the fascinating Shroud of Turin. This experience got us thinking deeply about faith, history, and science.
Fridays have been all about sport, with grades 5 and 6 heading out to play football and netball against other schools. We’ve had lots of fun working together as teams and showing great sportsmanship.
Science Week was another highlight. With extra help from Ms Gebka and Ms Dare, we explored chemical and physical changes in exciting ways – making microwave s’mores, popping popcorn, blowing up balloons with bi-carb and vinegar, and more. Some of our netballers also got the chance to go to the Festival of Bright Ideas, where they tried out hands-on science activities. At the Aurora Energy stall, they discovered how magnetism is used to generate electricity – and even powered a remote-control car by pedalling a bike!
To finish off a busy few weeks, we celebrated Book Week with a scavenger hunt. We had to solve codes and answer tricky questions about well-loved books. It was a great way to celebrate reading together
It’s been a jam-packed term so far – and we’re looking forward to what’s still to come!
