Cross Country

As the sun rose over timtumili munanyi, the jerry retreated to the north west and the dew formed beautifully on the hallowed grounds of Holy Rosary Catholic School. The PE Department and the Utilities Officers kicked the dew away and with the company of the sparrows set up for the 2025 HRCS X Country Carnival. Linton and Kade from Wayti Culture and Knowledge kicked off the carnival in fine fashion with a Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony at our Yarning Circle. It was a beautiful and smokey experience for our school community!
Decked out in those now familiar house colours our students began their quests for Cross Country immortality. The preps got us underway, their zest for the run infectious as they zoomed around the course, some confused by all the hoo ha of the event itself, some very prepared for the arduous yet rewarding trek ahead!
As we moved through the day there were superb performances from our up and coming aerobic stars, too many to mention with just 500 words at my disposal! The afternoon session provided many great memories with participation at its highest rate since we moved back to Holy Rosary Country for the event.
In the end it was the Red Devils, the mighty Doyle Purinina that snatched the title in 2025. A great effort from a group who've seen little success (like Essendon) in recent times. This leaves us with the House Cup firmly in the balance with the Athletics Carnivals in Term 4 becoming the deciding factor.
A Big thanks to Mr Riza, Mr Jones, Mr Luttrell, Mr Bourke, Mr O'Brien and the exceptional Miss Smith for giving up their early morning snooze and braving the frost to help set up!
