As the moon dove behind the hills the hard working and dedicated HPE crew began setting up for the 2023 3-6 athletics carnival. The dew, normally kicked off by the underage footballers, had settled in waiting for the morning sun to politely ask it to leave. With mother nature again looking after us we kicked off without a fuss.

As the day wore on some stars were beginning to emerge, Saxon Woods fast becoming a glimmering light for recruiters took out the three peat in the track events and the field event double! Ava Lindquist, in a warm up for the All Schools Athletics Championships, calmly accepted her No.1 seeding and went on to win multiple events on the day (again!).

Grades competed in all of their events with great Holy Rosary spirit, encouraging each other and trying their very best. It was a day to remember for a number of reasons but in the end a winner had to be crowned with the Mighty D’Arcy Lions taking out the 2023 Athletics Carnival!

A big thank you to Damian Riza, his 2IC Adam Taylor, Mr Luttrell, Miss French and Mr Clarke for turning up with the sparrows and setting up for the day.
