Principal's Report
Dear Parents & Guardians,
Welcome back to Term Four! A busy start to what will be a quick and exciting term ahead. At the start of last week, we welcomed back Mrs Lisa Cooper and Mr Brent Pearce following a period of leave. Their classes were pleased to have them back.
Last Friday we were blessed with beautiful weather and enthusiastic students for our Grade 3 - 6 Athletics Carnival. I was so impressed with the attitude and effort put in by all participants. Every point earned contributes to the House total. Thank you to all the staff who contributed on the day to running events and organising students. In particular, I extend my appreciation to Ben Johnson and Cam Clark (our PE Department) for running the day and Damian Riza & Adam Taylor for setting up and packing up. Elsewhere in the newsletter, Mr Johnson will have a wrap-up of the day.
I requested last week that families notify me in writing by last week if they intend on withdrawing their child’s enrolment. This is crucial to our planning and staffing for 2024. If there are any families who have not yet notified me in writing can you please do so as soon as possible?
A reminder that during Term Four all students need to be wearing their school hat. It is very helpful if these are clearly named so they can be returned promptly if left out and about. We have a “No Hat, No Play!” rule, so any child who does not have their school hat when outside for play or lessons will need to stay in the shaded areas.
Today we were able to celebrate Grandparents and Special Friends Day! We had a fabulous turnout. It is such a wonderful opportunity to share with these special people all the learning and happenings in the classrooms. Our students are blessed to have such caring and loving people in their lives.
A little-known event occurred last Friday, and I am guessing many of us missed it (me included!). It was apparently International Sloth Day (a renowned lazy animal). At the other extreme of celebrations, this Friday is World Teacher’s Day! Quite the opposite of being like a sloth, our teachers are amazing individuals. They are passionate, dedicated, and hard-working and we are thankful every day for all they contribute to the life of our school and to the education and well-being of our students. Thank you to each of our teachers, we hope you enjoy celebrating a day to acknowledge how special you are!
Kind regards
Susan McGann
