Dear Parents & Guardians,
As we bid farewell to the school year, it is with much joy we can reflect on the incredible journey that we have shared throughout the year together. From the first bell to the final assembly our school has embraced challenges, celebrated victories and grown together as a community.
We are immensely proud of our students and their hard work, dedication and successes. Opportunities to showcase their diverse talents both inside and outside of the classroom are always a highlight.
On Wednesday this week, we had Step Up Day - an opportunity for students to move up to the next grade with their 2024 classmates and to meet their teacher. There was much joy, excitement and engagement as I wandered around the classes. A testament to our welcoming staff to make sure all students were comfortable and happy.
I extend heartfelt thanks to our dedicated teaching, support and administrative staff who have worked tirelessly to create a nurturing school environment throughout the year. Additionally, we appreciate the support of our parents and the wider school community without whom we would not be able to achieve all we have done.
Congratulations to our Grade 6 Leavers who have finished their primary years. We wish each of them well as they journey off to high school. As a school community, we are thankful for all their contributions during their time here. They have become amazing young men and women who have excelled in their leadership of the school this year.
We will be farewelling some staff at the end of this year and I thank them for their effort, energy and contributions to our school.
- Mr Brent Pearce is moving to newer pastures, closer to his home. This is exciting for Brent to undertake a new challenge after 21 years of being on staff at Holy Rosary. Thank you, Brent and every blessing for your future.
- Mrs Cat Midson is moving to permanent work at the Catholic Education Office. We wish her all the best and thank her for her work and friendship over the last fourteen years.
- Miss Olivia French has recently finished her teaching degree and will be moving to a full-time HPE role at Mount Carmel College. Thank you Olivia for your contributions and we wish you all the best!
- Miss Millie Cooke has also finished her teaching degree and has successfully been appointed to a teaching position at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic School. Good luck Millie!
- Mr Brad Hastie has been undertaking contract work with us for 18 months and we have appreciated his flexibility and hard work. We will look forward to seeing Brad as a relief teacher around the school.
- Thank you to Mrs Jess Benson and Mr Ray Pearson (three terms) who have worked with us this year. Thank you for coming on board. We wish you both all the best in whatever your future holds.
We welcome the following new staff to our school in 2024.
- Mrs Jessica Brumby will be sharing with Mrs Catherine Perkins in Prep Blue (two days)
- Miss Abbey Williams will be sharing with Mrs Renee Ludwig in Grade 2 Blue (three days)
- Mrs Courtney De La Torre will be teaching Grade 4 Blue
- Ms Natalie Eastwood will be teaching Grade 6 Blue
- Mr Dylan Burnett, Miss Hannah Direen, Mrs Natalie Edwards, Miss Melodee Estcourt, Miss Ke-nnye Marantelli and Miss Maddison Wilton will be joining the support staff as Teacher Assistants from 2024.
As we look to the year ahead in 2024, I hope that we carry the lessons learned, the new friendships made, and the memories created. Next year will be an opportunity to embrace fresh opportunities and continue to grow as a vibrant and supportive community.
On behalf of the Holy Rosary School community, we wish you a joyous holiday season filled with love, laughter and moments of rest and reflection. Thank you for a remarkable year!
We look forward to welcoming our students back for the first day of school
on Wednesday 7th February 2024.
Kind regards
Susan McGann
Athletics Carnival
Recently the Grade 1’s were involved in the prep – 2’s athletics carnival. It was a bright and sunny day, and we had lots of fun in all of the events. The Grade 1’s showed their strength in the tug of war, teamwork in the water/cup race, agility in the super basketball and speed and endurance in the track events. Well done everyone on their participation during the day!!
Story Book
In Miss Bridges’ literacy class, we have been reading Captain Jack and the Pirates in our story book lessons. Following this the students got the opportunity to create their own treasure chest with their most treasured items they own. Students wrote about many different things from special toys, family heirlooms, money and game consoles.
Money, Money, Money!!
In Math we have been learning all about Money. The Grade 1’s have learnt all about Australian coins, looking at their features and learning about their value. We looked at coins from around the world to discover what was different and similar with our money we use. Mrs Beddoe has a new shop set up in her class where students are able to use their knowledge of money to buy and sell sorts of groceries.
2023 End of Year Sports Report
Well what a year it’s been!
14,400 mins of Physical Education, 160 hours of Health, 8 sports carnivals, 9 weeks of 5/6 Footy and Netball, 4 weeks of Learn to Swim, a mega dance production, 4 weeks of gymnastics and Ploughman Cup. If I’ve forgotten anything I’m sorry!
I hope all members of our school community have had an enjoyable 2023 and you can look back with fond memories in regards to all the things we did in HPE this year!
I would like to thank each and every one of our students for their participation and their ‘have a go’ attitude. Secondly I would like to thank Mr Camden Clark for his efforts in his first year in the workforce, your support of the HPE program has been excellent and I also thank you for introducing me to instagram ‘reels’. My life will never be the same.
I’d also like to publicly thank our Utility Officers, Damian Riza and Adam Taylor, your support of the HPE program hasn’t wavered all year and your brilliance on carnival days is second to none.
To the magnificent team in the office we simply cannot function without you in HPE, thanks for all your support and understanding throughout the year and supplying me with breath mints on those unfortunate mornings when I enter the office.
To Sue Reardon the master of all things numbers the HPE Dept will truly miss your ‘skills to pay the bills’ and all the background work you do to make the program a success.
Finally, a big thanks to the leadership team and to all members of the school community for your ongoing support of all things HPE, we wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Enjoy the break!
Go hawks!
