Dear Parents & Guardians,
This week we celebrate Teacher Assistants & Support Staff Appreciation Week! Our school is filled with wonderful students and amazing teachers…but the glue that holds everything together is our support staff - teacher assistants, office staff, canteen ladies, our librarian assistant, PE trainee, ICT support and our utility officers! These fabulous staff guide, assist, care and look out for us and our school. Our school is so much better because of them and we couldn’t live without them!
Book Week was a wonderful celebration of all things special about reading and engaging with books. Books have the amazing ability to take our readers to places all around the world and all parts of their imagination. This year’s theme is ‘Read, Grow, Inspire’ - something we hope our students achieve every day. Thank you to our families for supporting your child’s love of books and preparing them to participate in our Book Week Parade last Wednesday. We had a very successful Book Fair in our student hub at the start of last week - we thank our families for supporting this initiative. I am forever grateful, as are many of our students, for the joy that books bring!
This week we had the Tasmanian Fire Service attend our Emergency Evacuation Practice. Our recently updated Emergency Evacuation Plan has been submitted and final approval is granted with a practice attended by our local fire brigade. This was an opportunity for them to see our plan in action and occurs once every five years. We will continue to have regular practices throughout the years to ensure all students and staff are familiar with what to do in an emergency. It was pleasing to note we passed with flying colours! Our staff and students did a great job!
Last newsletter I mentioned the successful parent evening we had with Lisa Ford, Clinical Psychologist. We were able to engage such a high-quality presenter through the assistance of the Tasmanian Catholic School Parent Council who generously provided a grant towards the cost of running these sessions.
This week we held our annual Father's Day Stall. The children loved having the chance to select something special for the special men in their lives. I would like to especially thank the parents who have volunteered to run and orgnaise this stall. Without out them the stall would not be possible. I especially thank Linda Perry and Tam Pels for their work coordinating the event. A huge thank you also to Tibballs Nursery for a large donation of plants for the stall. Happy Father's Day on Sunday for all the father's and father figures of our school community.
Tomorrow morning from 7:30am is our annual Family Breakfast! We are very excited to welcome you all to school to share in this special occasion.
Kind regards
Susan McGann
