On a tropical Hobart morning the elite of Holy Rosary's running stable ventured to the windswept plains of the Rokeby Police Academy. As the nearby dolphin's frolicked in the shallows of timtumili minanya, the grade 4's were first to tackle the course fighting through icy Antarctic gusts, mushy grass and the odd rabbit hole! The grade 3's followed, powered by complete and utter nervousness. All Grade 3s finished the run and displayed tremendous Holy Rosary spirit!
The sun shone brightly as the Grade 5's took off, melting away any remaining frost and removing any distress relating to the extra 500m around the haunting pine trees of the Clarence plains. Hallie Wickham the mighty miler from Mangalore was pipped at the post but ran an incredible race to finish second.
We then finished the day with our grade 6s, and what a way to finish a great day; Ava Lindquist, akin to Cathy Freeman flying down the straight at Stadium Australia took out the girl’s event, barely breaking a sweat as she crossed the line!
In the end a great day was had by all our competitors. A massive congratulations to all of our runners on the day! A special thanks to Mrs Fisher and Miss Browning for crowd control, Mr Riza and Mr Taylor for setting up chateau Rosary in the morning darkness and Mr Clarke who directed traffic well into the afternoon!
