Dear Parents & Guardians
I hope all our mothers and mother figures - grandmothers, aunts, friends and neighbours - who have a wonderful and positive impact on the lives of our students were thoroughly spoilt last Sunday for Mother’s Day. It is a blessing to have such an important role in the lives of young (and sometimes not-so-young) people - guiding, shaping, caring and loving them. The following prayer was in my local parish newsletter last weekend. I think we can all find ourselves in one of the lines…
A Prayer for Mothers
Loving God, we pray:
for expectant mothers, wondering and waiting;
for new mothers, coming to terms with a new responsibility;
for those who are tired, stressed or depressed;
for those who struggle to balance the tasks of work and family;
for those who are unable to feed their children due to poverty;
for those whose children have physical, mental or emotional challenges;
for those who raise children on their own;
for those who have lost a child;
for those who care for the children of others;
for those whose children have left home;
And for those whose desire to be a mother has not been fulfilled.
Bless all mothers, that their love may be deep and tender, and that they may lead their children to know, and do, what is good, living not for themselves alone, but for God and for others. Amen
Thank you to the mums who ran out very popular Mother’s Day stall! We appreciate the time and effort in organising the items, setting up and running the stall on the day. I know our mums appreciated the time and thought that went into choosing your special gift!
This week is Road Safety Week. A great opportunity to discuss how to be safe and careful around roads. Not all students have a good awareness of traffic and timely reminders and discussions how to safely cross roads, ride bikes or scooters, walk on footpaths etc. will contribute to their safety and understanding of our roads and its users.
We have welcomed to the school this week….
- Jethro Cassidy undertaking his teaching practicum placement in Grade 6
- Zali Beddoe & Millie Richardson joining us from MacKillop College for Grade 10 Work Experience
The school is investigating the setting up of a Breakfast Club, initially one day and potentially up to three days a week. We are fortunate to have some parish volunteers who will assist us in the running. If there are parents who have a business or connections and would like to help out with the provision of items on an ongoing basis, we would appreciate you making contact with us. Ideally, we would like to commence before the end of this term.
Wishing all our participants in the school Cross Country a fabulous day tomorrow. Rug up and enjoy the day!
