On a balmy Friday morning the Holy Rosary masses made their way to the Glenorchy Sports and Aquatic Centre to compete in the 2023 HRCS House Cup Swimming Carnival. A sea of yellow, red and blue ready to perform for their house and gain points towards obtaining the House Shield in 2023.
Throughout the day there were some tremendous efforts in the pool from all our competing students. Household names like Cetkovic, Lindquist, Berry and Wise lit up the pool in all disciplines. After all was said and done, the might of Young was simply too strong again, taking out the title for another year, can the Yellow army be stopped? Are we witnessing history as they chase a fifth House Cup title in a row? Only time will tell as we head into the middle of the year, the Cross Country Carnival looms large….
In summing up I’d like to thank our awesome staff for all their help on the day. Mrs Piesse and Ms Sertori for their recording excellence, Hugo Shadbolt and Sienna Beams who despite only having a full set of legs between them managed to distribute ribbons and cheer their house mates on! A big thanks to Miss Olivia French for being our finish marshall and Mr Bourke for pressing play on the GoPro. I would also like to thank our new trainee Mr Clarke for the refreshing Hot Chocolate at 7am and Mr. Riza for setting up and packing up the pool with all of our equipment. Without your support these events don’t go ahead so a big thanks from the PE department!
Next up is the Cross Country Carnival in term 2 which (fingers crossed) will return to the hallowed turf of our school grounds! Can the D’Arcy Lions or the Doyle Wolf Pack arrest the golden tide that has enveloped us in the House Cup recently? Or will Young continue to fly high in such merciless fashion?
Until then, have fun and stay active!
