Dear Parents & Guardians,
It is amazing how quickly the year progresses…we are already in Week 4! Most of the students are well settled into their new classrooms and routines and so much active learning is taking place.
We had a great turnout for our Welcome Family BBQ with over 200 students and families in attendance. Thank you to the staff who assisted with ordering, preparing, setting up, cooking, serving and cleaning up. We were blessed with beautiful weather and a lovely opportunity for many working families to spend time together.
Our next Coffee & Chat is planned for this coming Wednesday 1st March in the Student Hub. All are welcome to call in after drop off from approximately 8:30 am onwards.
Yesterday we celebrated Ash Wednesday with our Grade 3 - 6 students attending the Parish Mass and receiving the ashes there. Fr Suresh was able to visit our Early Years classes to give them the ashes also. Ash Wednesday is the commencement of Lent. Lent lasts for the next forty days and culminates with Holy Week events - Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday. During the next forty days, we can take the opportunity to think about changes we could make in our lives, this could be being more helpful or kind, sometimes we give up things - but at the heart of it, we try to follow closely in the footsteps of Jesus. It is always a challenge to change how we do things but Lent is a wonderful opportunity to reset and re-engage.
Teaching staff have met with students and parents/guardians this week to discuss Goal Setting for the year ahead. We thank those parents and students who have engaged so willingly with staff to plan and set goals. This is always an important step to set each student up for success.
We have had some rearrangement of our CatholicCare counselling provisions for this year. We welcome Marshall to the HRCS Counselling Team! Marshall is a very experienced counsellor with strong links to family and student counselling - he was also once a teacher, so is very familiar with how a school operates. Moving forward for 2023, Marshall will work Monday, Sam on Tuesday & Wednesday and Row on Friday.
