Dear Parents & Guardians,
It is wonderful to reflect on all the positives from our year…and the list is long...engaged and supportive parents, fabulous students who have been provided with so many academic, sporting and social opportunities, new friendships made & old ones strengthened, amazing dedicated staff, strong links with our parish community and a wonderful parish priest - Fr Suresh. We have been truly blessed throughout 2022!
It was an absolute pleasure to accompany the HRSunlight Saver Robotics Team to Melbourne. They worked like a well-oiled machine, their presentation was outstanding and the support for each other was lovely to see. The National Championships - South saw over forty teams from South Australia, Victoria and Tasmania come together to present Innovation Projects and complete Robot Challenges. Students participating ranged from Grade 4 through to Grade 9. Our team consisted of Grade 4 & 5 students. To come away with the ‘Rising All-Star Award’ was a huge achievement and we couldn’t be prouder of our team. Thank you to Miss Zoe Walter who coached the team for the Tasmanian competition and Mrs Cat Midson who coached them at Nationals.
On Wednesday this week, we had Step Up day - an opportunity for students to move up to the next grade with their 2023 classmates and to meet their teacher. There was much joy, excitement and engagement as I wandered around the classes. A testament to our welcoming staff to make sure all students were comfortable and happy.
Since our last newsletter, there have been three camps - Grades 3, 5 & 6. All camps were very enjoyable and successful. Thank you so much to the staff who attended. It is very much appreciated that each of them took time away from their own families and invested so much time into planning and attending. These camps create wonderful memories for our students and for some push them outside their comfort zone to grow and continue to develop into the wonderful young people they are.
Congratulations to our Grade 6 Leavers who have finished their primary years. We wish each of them well as they journey off to high school. As a school community, we are thankful for all their contributions during their time here.
Our lovely Choir had the opportunity to attend Eureka Claremont Gardens Retirement Village on Tuesday. The residents thoroughly enjoyed joining in the Christmas Carol presentation. Thank you to Claire Williams and Ad Reeve for organising and accompanying the Choir.
A highlight at the end of the year is the Kinder Nativity presented by each of our Kinder classes. Through the eyes of our youngest students, we are reminded of the purpose and reason for these holidays, the birth of Jesus in a simple stable surrounded by love and warmth.
We have farewelled some staff at the end of this year and thank them for their effort, energy and contributions to our school.
- Mrs Liz Mason is moving to St Francis Flexible Learning Centre (Grade 7 - 12). This is exciting for Liz to undertake a new challenge after 21 years of being on staff at Holy Rosary. Thank you, Liz and every blessing for your future.
