Dear Parents & Guardians,
What a busy couple of weeks we have had…things certainly ramp up in Term Four! It is exciting for the many opportunities provided to our students and the joy they get from participating.
Congratulations to the seven students - Harriet, Rebekah, Poppy, James, Ben, Ethan & Anna, who are members of our Robotics Club, for their high level of participation and results in the recent First Lego League Challenge that was held at Sacred Heart College on Saturday 12th November. Dubbed the ‘HRSunlight Savers’ they did an amazing job working as a team and this was acknowledged by being awarded the trophy for ‘Core Values’ Winner. Finishing in the top four schools in the south also resulted in an invitation to the National Challenge in Melbourne next weekend. There are a number of school-based fundraisers that are being held to support our students in the journey to Melbourne - Guess the Lolly Jar each morning outside Kinder, $1 = 1 guess, $2 = 3 guesses. We are also holding a ‘Crazy Sock Day’ this Friday for a gold coin donation.
We had so much fun
Our Early Year's students who participated in the 40th Myer Christmas Pageant last Saturday felt like superstars on a red carpet. They did amazingly well walking around the block of the city as 40 birthday candles, waving to everyone. They were awarded the Best Dressed Christmas Themed entry!
The 'Red' Superstars
We are excited to start the redevelopment of our school oval this week. Following the recent building works the oval needs to be moved around and extended, irrigation replaced and the grass reseeded. The majority of the work should be completed before the end of the year and we then will be able to watch the grass grow!
We were pleased to welcome Alan Mansell this week to work with Culture Club students in Grades 2-6. They completed some fabulous print work designs. Thank you to Mr Ben Johnson for organising this creative opportunity.
On Monday this week, our staff and students participated in our annual lockdown practice. Undertaking this allows students to understand the procedures and what to expect should we ever have to implement a lockdown. The students were excellent, they followed instructions, and sat quietly and calmly for a short period of time.
Kind regards
Susan McGann
