Dear Parents & Guardians,
Today is National Sorry Day. This day provides a chance to focus on healing and pursue reconciliation in Australian society. We observe this day and remember and acknowledge the mistreatment of Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people and the mistakes made in the past. Doing so will allow us to develop deeper and more respectful relationships.
Sometimes it’s the little things that bring the greatest joy. It has been a long time since we have managed a face-to-face assembly with our students, so it was great that we could gather for the first time as a whole school community this week. The students stepped up admirably - responding, singing beautifully and listening with respect to our assembly leaders. We hope it is not too long before parents and guardians can join us also.
I reiterate our congratulations to Sarah Dance on her appointment announced this week as Acting Deputy Principal for the remainder of 2022 at St Brigid’s, New Norfolk. Many families in our school have had contact with Sarah as our Learning Support Coordinator. She has always provided sage wisdom and helped many families navigate the pathway of learning plans, NCCD, and diagnosis. Sarah is certainly well placed to enter a new school community and undertake a significant leadership role for the rest of this year. We wish her all the best on her journey, but do secretly (or not so secretly) hope she shall return to us next year.
Our Learn to Swim program for Grades 3-6 has unfortunately needed to be postponed. The pool staff have unfortunately been hit with Covid and they cannot staff the program at this point in time. We will let you know when new arrangements have been confirmed.
Please do not hesitate to contact me by email at susan.mcgann@catholic.tas.edu.au or phone the school office.
