Dear Parents & Guardians,
Term break is nearly upon us - classes finish next Thursday 14th April. I must congratulate the students for their resilience and perseverance this term. The frequently changing landscape of covid has seen many cases and outbreaks but our students have coped well with the change of routine, with numerous relief staff and some of their regular classes being delayed. They have shown great flexibility when things have not gone to plan. I am hopeful that next term will be a little more ‘normal’, but if it isn’t we too know that we can cope and adapt.
As we head into Easter we contemplate this most important time of the year. We think about the story that Christians retell after the 40 days of Lent. The story of Jesus, the man who challenged the status quo, who turned the values of society upside down. For Christians, the death and resurrection of Jesus lie at the heart of what it means to be truly human. This is because that every barrier between good and evil, lies and truth, God and humanity was broken down on that first Easter morning when Jesus rose from the dead. The Easter story represents hope of a new start, a new direction, reassurance that there is a way forward. As people of faith, we live in hope. Hope is a powerful force that keeps us strong for each other and ourselves. It is the idea that what we experience in the now, always leads to a better tomorrow.
As I reflect on my first term here at Holy Rosary, I am appreciative of the warm welcome into the school community I have received. It is a joy to see our students continually strive to be the best people they can be. Our staff have certainly stepped in to fill many a void left by Covid.
I am heading off a little early and will be on leave from Friday 8 - 14th April. My two sons were fortunate to be selected in the State U19 Cricket team and they play in the National Tournament in Mackay. I have been approved leave for this period. Gab Fisher will be Acting Principal in my absence.
Wishing all families a blessed Easter and restful holiday break. Classes resume on Monday 2nd May.
