Dear Parents & Guardians,
We have had some wonderful opportunities during the last fortnight to celebrate some special events. Fr Suresh turned 50! Some of our students made beautiful cards and drew pictures. A lovely memento and show of appreciation for all the fabulous things Fr Suresh contributes to our school community.
St Patrick’s Day saw all things green, clothes, jellies and classroom activities. It was a wonderful occasion to celebrate a well known Saint. The highlight this last fortnight for me though was the school Swimming Carnival held at Glenorchy pool. Not everyone can be a competitive or accomplished swimmer, but the high levels of participation and enjoyment in the pool races, the slide and volleyball were great to see. All students seemed to thoroughly enjoy the day, despite the early morning chill. Thanks to our PE department, Mr Ben Johnson & Mr James Bourke and the many staff and parents who helped with the organising and running of the carnival.
How much can change in a week! We certainly were fortunate last newsletter to report only one covid-19 case. This week has seen a rapid increase in case numbers and the need for a sweep across the school for all students and staff. Thanks to our families for your support with administering RAT’s and communicating with the school office positive results and close contact information. This week has involved a lot of administration and I am very appreciative of the work put in by the office staff and other helpful staff to manage this.
Kinder interviews have commenced for 2023 classes. It is a wonderful opportunity to meet our prospective students and get to know them and their families. If you have a child due to commence Kindergarten - current and new families please ensure your application is handed to the office no later than May 6th.
Today sees the completion of the Prep classrooms. It is amazing to see this come to fruition. Our Prep teachers will commence the moving in of resources and setting up of furniture at the start of next week. We are hopeful, all going to plan, that classes will be able to use these spaces before the end of next week.
Occasionally, students are late to school, when this occurs they need to be signed in at the office. Please do not record them on Compass as being ‘late’. Compass reads this as being ‘onsite’ and for the purposes of fire alarms and lockdowns, we need an accurate record of who is actually present.
Please don't hesitate to contact me by email at susan.mcgann@catholic.tas.edu.au or phone the school office.
