On Wednesday May 26, ten students from grade 5 and 6 attended the inaugural “It takes a SPARK” conference at Guildford Young College. The conference was aimed at encouraging students to grow and develop their skills in STEM.
Students participated in a variety of workshops including designing a digital game, building and operating a bionic rubbish collecting arm and finding and locating Tasmanian flora and fauna using geotagging technology for future conservation.
Riley McGreghan introduced Dr Jennifer Lavers - eco-toxologist, to an audience of almost 400. We also heard Dr Stars Shabala’s journey as an astrophysicist from a school boy in Hobart to Professor at Cambridge and Oxford University.
Our students represented our school with pride and eagerly participated in all activities.
