Dear Families,
We hope all our dads and father figures enjoyed a very special Father’s Day last Sunday. These occasions are a wonderful reminder of the love, guidance and support that dads and role models provide every day, and we hope your families had the chance to celebrate together.
A very big thank you to everyone who joined us at the Family Breakfast last Friday – it was lovely to see so many families coming together to share the morning. Huge thanks to our amazing staff who assisted in preparing, cooking, serving and cleaning up! Special thanks also go to the amazing mums who organised and ran our Father’s Day Stall. Your efforts brought plenty of smiles and helped make the day memorable for our children and their dads.
Last week also saw the end of another wonderful soccer season. We’d like to extend our gratitude to Simon Turk (Coordinator), Tam Pels (Delegate), and all the parents who generously volunteered as coaches. Your time, energy and encouragement allowed our students the opportunity to enjoy the game, develop new skills, and learn the importance of teamwork. We hope all our young players look back on the season with pride.
Our Grade 3 students had a wonderful time on their very first overnight camp! They embraced the adventure with great enthusiasm. The camp was filled with fun activities, new challenges, and plenty of laughter. A huge thank you to the staff who attended and supported the students throughout the experience – your care and commitment made it such a memorable and positive milestone for our Grade 3s.
Finally, we’d like to congratulate our Grade 6 students who were selected to represent the school in Wednesday afternoon’s Doran v Webb football and netball games at St Aloysius Catholic College, Kingston. We are very proud of your efforts and how you represented our school with great spirit and sportsmanship.

Our Parish program for the Sacrament of Confirmation will begin in Term 4 for Year 6 students who have already received the Sacraments of Baptism, Reconciliation, and First Eucharist.
Confirmation is a special step in your child’s faith journey. It is a time when they will strengthen their baptismal promises, receive the Holy Spirit, and commit to living out their Christian faith as active members of our Church community.
The Sacrament of Confirmation will be celebrated at St Bernard’s Church on Sunday, 16th November 2025, during the 9:00am Mass.
If you would like to register your child for Confirmation, please contact either Father Suresh or myself via email at melissa.scharvi@catholic.tas.edu.au by Friday, 26th September 2025.
Further information and details about the preparation program will be shared early next term.
We look forward to walking this meaningful journey with you and your child as they continue to grow in their faith.

In Prep, we have been celebrating reaching 100 days of school this year. Over the course of this year, we have been counting up to this day as we celebrate all the learning and achievements we have made over this time. Our theme for the day was 100 days brighter, where we brightened our faces with face paint and made crowns to wear for the day. Students should be very proud of everything they have achieved so far this year!!!
In Religion, we have been learning all about the word ‘unique’ and how God made each and every one of us unique and special in our own way. Students drew pictures of themselves and of their peers as we celebrated each person's differences in qualities and talents. Some students noticed that they had different eye colours, hair colour and that they were different heights, while others thought about what they were good at and liked to do that was different to their peers.
Year 5 Camp 2025 – Adventure, Teamwork, and Memories
From Monday 25th to Wednesday 27th August, our Year 5 students set off on an action-packed camp adventure full of sunshine, fun, and teamwork. Right from the first stop at Opossum Bay beach, students embraced the spirit of camp, enjoying beach walks, games, and the spectacular scenery before heading to the South Arm Labyrinth for some peaceful reflection and stunning views.
At Orana Guides Camp, the excitement continued with quizzes, star gazing, and a classic camp BBQ. The days that followed were filled with friendly competitions, laughter, and plenty of opportunities to challenge ourselves. Students showed exemplary support for one another throughout, cheering on their classmates and demonstrating teamwork at every turn.
Some camp highlights included:

Ploughman Cup Obstacle Course Challenge – Congratulations to Doyle House, who powered through with determination to claim the win.

Outer Space-Themed Sand Sculpture Competition – A galaxy of creativity shone through, with Young House taking home the honours.

Team Building Activities – Once again, Young House rose to the occasion, showing outstanding collaboration and spirit.

Sports and Games – From thrilling soccer matches to bush “Capture the Flags,” energy and smiles were everywhere.

History in Action – Students enjoyed stepping back in time at Richmond, learning about Tasmania’s convict past and exploring Old Hobart Town Model Village, complete with miniature streets, buildings, and characters. Of course, the lolly shop was also a huge hit!
By the time we returned to school, everyone was tired but full of stories and memories. The camp was not only an opportunity for fun and learning, but also a chance for our students to grow in resilience, independence, and friendship. We are incredibly proud of how supportive, respectful, and enthusiastic our Year 5s were throughout the entire experience.
It is timely for a reminder that school commences at 8:40am and ends at 2:50pm. Children should not be at school before 8:20am as there is no teacher supervision before this time. Recently we have been noticing a number of students who are being dropped to school well before 8:20am and also many who are still waiting for collection well after 3pm without prior organisation with the school. Please be considerate of these times and if needed please contact CatholicCare to organise before and/or afterschool care.
