Welcome to Term 2!
During the holidays, we were deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Pope Francis, the leader of the Catholic Church and a kind, loving shepherd to people all over the world. Pope Francis taught us many important things: to care for the poor, to love one another, to take care of God’s creation, and to always show kindness and mercy. He reminded us that even small acts of love can make a big difference. As a school rooted in the Catholic faith, we give thanks for Pope Francis’s life, his gentle leadership, and the example he gave us. We will remember him in our prayers and continue to follow his example by being loving, welcoming, and respectful to everyone. We await the news of his successor in the coming days or weeks.
Thank you to our Grade 1 and 2 classes who celebrated with us the story of the resurrection of Jesus on Easter Sunday at our prayer service last week. We hope all our families had a moment to reflect on the important Easter events during the break.
This week, we joyfully celebrate Mother’s Day, a special time to honour and thank the amazing mothers, grandmothers, stepmothers and mother figures in our lives. At Holy Rosary, we know how important mums are — for the love they give, the care they show, and the many ways they help us grow each and every day. Throughout this week, many of our students have been preparing heartfelt cards, drawings, and special activities to express their love and appreciation. We hope these little gifts bring big smiles! Thank you to our dedicated and organised group of mums who have organised and run our Mother’s Day stall this week!
On behalf of our whole school community, we say: Thank you, mums, for your hugs, your help, your hearts, and your endless love. You are truly a blessing to us all!

Pope Francis
Pope Francis, the leader of the Roman Catholic Church, has died aged 88. Pope Francis was known for his strong commitment to caring for the poor and speaking out against poverty and violence.
Pope Francis was also very passionate about how we live our lives. He wanted us all to care for the earth - our common home. He wrote a letter "Laudato Si'" to discuss the damage being inflicted on the Earth and asking us to make urgent changes to our lifestyles to protect the Earth from damage caused by human activities.
We give thanks to Pope Francis for his many years of service to our Church. May his legacy, inclusivity and care for the marginalised continue to live on within the Church.
The Conclave on selecting a new Pope begins on the 7th May. We wait in anticipation to see who our next Pope will be.

Gracious God,
You know our needs even before we ask
and heed our faltering prayers, spoken and unspoken.
Hear our voice above the murmurs of sorrow
for it is the voice of confusion
seeking your still small voice of calm.
Hear our voice as we give thanks for your faithful servant
for it is the voice of praise
joining with sadness and joy.
Hear our voice as we pray for the future
for it is a voice of hope
longing to see your Church made whole.
Hear our voice as we watch with those who deliberate
for it is the voice of humility
asking for their wisdom and discernment.
Hear our voice as we pray in solidarity with the poor
for it is the voice of peace
searching for justice.
O God, hear the voice of the voiceless
for it is the voice of silence
crying out from the cross
through whom your Spirit may be heard
and your will be recognised.
For Jesus Christ’s sake, Amen.

Mother's Day
This Sunday is Mother’s Day. It is a day to celebrate and show appreciation for mothers and maternal figures for their love, guidance and care and to acknowledge the important role they play in our lives.
A Mother's Love
There are times when only a mother's love
Can understand our tears,
Can soothe our disappoints
And calm all of our fears.
There are times when only a mother's love
Can share the joy we feel
When something we've dreamed about
Quite suddenly is real.
There are times when only a mother's faith
Can help us on life's way
And inspire in us the confidence
We need from day to day.
For a mother's heart and a mother's faith
And a mother's steadfast love
Were fashioned by the angels
And sent from God above.

Term 2 music assembly showcased the talents of students from Grade 4, 5 and 6. Grade 4 performed chants about rainy weather and movement performances using scarves to the music of ‘In the Hall of the Mountain King’, Grieg. Grade 5 performed music using Japanese ‘kumoi’ scales, whilst grade 6 performed ‘Firework’ by Katy Perry. Zen Duncan-Northeast, Castiel Lovell and Adalyn Bent captivated their audience playing guitar and singing! Thank you to Ms Williams and the students for a wonderful Music assembly!
