This Sunday is Father’s Day; a day where we celebrate our fathers and all that they contribute to our lives. Others though, can take this time to celebrate the significant contribution that other male role models may play in their lives, be they grandparents, other family members or even friends. The one important thing is that we take the time to reflect on what these men mean to us and their understanding and support of us in our lives.
Whilst our students love choosing presents for the special male in their lives, even more importantly than this is the time you spend together. Time spent together talking, exploring, building, creating and just being together.
Happy Father’s Day to all of our fathers, grandfathers and the other special males in our student’s lives!
A Prayer for First Holy Communion Lord Jesus
Bless the children coming forward to receive Holy Communion for the first time on Sunday.
May it be an initial step into a life-long love of the Eucharist.
Give them a hunger for this sacred food so that they turn to you for comfort, guidance, and wisdom as they grow into full discipleship.
Thank you for their innocence and goodness.
May their hands, extended in anticipation of your Body and Blood, inspire all of us to cherish this sacred sacrament.
Literacy Planet’s Word Mania is the biggest online literacy competition in Australia. Word Mania is a word building game where students race against the clock to build as many words as they can in three minutes from 15 randomly generated letters. The scores for schools across Australia and New Zealand are tracked and classes can be in the running for some great prizes. After the practice round, Holy Rosary has achieved some of the top scores in Australia. Our Grade 6's are currently in third place and our Grade 4's are currently in first place. We look forward to the competition round.
On Thursday the 1st of August, Father Suresh came in to talk to 4CL and 4B about how he shows the Spirit of Jesus. He showed us some languages that he can speak too. When he left we completed a piece of work to compare what we do to show the Spirit of Jesus like Father Suresh. Here are a few examples.

Our Gymnastics program has been another wonderful opportunity for the students at Holy Rosary. We especially thank our P.E teacher Mr Ben Johnson and our sports trainee Miss Mel Wise for coordinating and running our Gymnastics program.
In Term 3 our Grade 5/6 students compete in an inter school Football and Netball roster. Here are some photos of our very competitive and also very respectful teams going through their drill.
The Religious Literacy Assessment is an assessment of religious literacy, focusing on students’ knowledge and understanding of the key concepts that are being addressed by the school’s Religious Education program. This assessment is undertaken by students in Year 4 and Year 8 across all Catholic schools. There are 35 questions completed in an online, multiple choice format. Students in Year 4 at Holy Rosary have this week completed a practice test to become familiar with the online testing format and will complete the final assessment on Tuesday 27th August.
Twice a term Father Suresh encourages our students to attend and help to facilitate parts of our Sunday Parish Masses. This term we encourage our 5/6 students to join us at Mass on Sunday 25th August and our Grade 3/4 students on Sunday 15th September. Please save these dates.
The theme of Bookweek is “Reading is my Superpower”. Due to the hall and asphalt area being used during our building works, Bookweek will be run slightly differently this year. We will open up classrooms for parents in Kinder to Grade 2 to come in and participate in Bookweek activities from 8:30am - 9:30am, followed by a short parade around the oval for the students to show off their costumes (weather permitting).
