Dear Parents & Guardians,Welcome to Term Three! Such a busy term ahead with Grades 3, 4 & 5 camps, our Gymnastics Program that is al
ready in full swing and lots of planned excursions to support student learning! It was fabulous to see the students (and staff) participate in our Olympics Dress Up days this week in support of the Archbishops Samaritan Fund. Thank you to all those families who have visited and supported our Book Fair this week.
We welcome Mrs Lucy Shaw as our Kinder Maroon class teacher for Terms Three and Four. Lucy has hit the ground running - meeting parents and planning many wonderful educational opportunities for her students.
Families in Grades 2-5 were recently communicated the change we are making to the provision of technology devices that will take effect from the start of 2025. Our school will transition from BYOD (Bring Your Own Devices) to a school-owned surface laptop (touchscreen) that will remain at school. Several factors contributed to this decision namely uniformity and equity - allowing all students access to the same high-quality technology; enhanced security; optimal learning tools pre-loaded allowing seamless integration into the learning program for teachers and students; and importantly providing a significant cost saving to parents. Our younger classes Kinder to Grade 2 will continue to have access to the school-owned bank of devices.
Thank you to parents who availed themselves of the opportunity to meet last week with teachers for Parent-Teacher conversations following the distribution of reports at the end of last term. Mid-year and end-of-year reports are an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of students in their academic learning. It is timely to remember that all students progress at different rates and are on their own educational journey that does not benefit from unnecessary comparison with other students. The content of school reports is not intended for distribution on social media platforms.
In Grade 3 we take turns with a partner to lead Daily Prayer in the morning. We start with the Sign of the Cross, then read a chosen prayer, traditional prayer or our own prayer. We end with responses of Amen or Lord Hear Us and Saint Bernard - Pray for Us. We model how to be prayerful and reverent.
Each Friday we lead our Friday Prayer Circle with Mrs Hibberd. We have to prepare the correct coloured cloth for the Church season and include a Crucifix, The Word (Bible or Gospel story), Icons or religious symbols, something from Creation, a Candle to ‘light the way’ and any other special items that the class will add during our class Liturgy. We each lay a shell that has a class members name on it and offer a prayer of special intention for their family, friends and pets.
