Dear Parents & Guardians,
We were fortunate to welcome Lisa Ford, clinical psychologist, to share her practical wisdom with our Grade 4- 6 classes last week. Lisa also ran an excellent parent session. Her practical and lived experiences as a parent and psychologist allowed us to go home with increased understanding and lots of strategies to implement. It was lovely to receive such positive feedback from those who were able to attend.
National Reconciliation Week last week allowed the school community to learn about shared histories, cultures and achievements and explore the role each of us can play in contributing to the achievement of reconciliation in Australia. Mr Ben Johnson, our Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Co-ordinator was able to attend the annual Reconciliation Breakfast with some staff and our school leaders on Friday. A wonderful opportunity to interact with the wider community and develop their understanding of cultural beliefs.
Good luck to our Grade 3 - 6 students attending the Catholic School Cross Country Carnival tomorrow at the Rokeby Police Academy. We hope you enjoy the opportunity to represent your school.
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus
This week, we reflect on the love of Christ through a beautiful symbol of love – the Heart.
We reflect on the joy that appears when we become more conscious of our own hearts ... We all long for love and acceptance ... Let us open our hearts to the Heart of hearts so that today we will be filled with Love.
Jesus, we embrace you and your vision.
In Kinder and Prep we are embracing the joy that comes through prayer to see God’s presence in our world and to live out a journey finding faith with God..
With fire in our minds, with fire through our hands,
Catching fire in our hearts, we turn to you.
With our Sacramental Students through preparation for the sacrament of Eucharist, we build with God and others, an accepting place of welcome for all. We see, with eyes the sacredness of every face & moment.
And Grade 1 and Grade 2 we’re people of purpose and committed . We have been witnesses in our mission, with visits to St Vincent De Paul, Claremont with kind donations provided by our families.
In Grade 3, 4, 5 and 6 our Sacramental Students are keepers of the flame. They have been called upon to pass on Jesus’ great story that they have found deep in their hearts and souls, the love Jesus has for us all. Oh how it changes everything for us.
In our daily interactions the students of Holy Rosary are drawn to Jesus’ centre, it animates all that we say and do Together, we will journey with each other knowing we don’t walk the path alone.
Loving God, we honour the heart of Jesus, your beloved Son. We remember how He opened his heart in love to all people.
Open our own hearts to receive the gifts that continue to flow so richly from the Heart of Christ, who lives with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God for ever and ever.
Amen.
In Prep we have been learning about the Church. Mrs Piesse took us to St Bernards Church and showed us many interesting things. She explained how Father Suresh hosts a school Mass, where he stands and what he wears. We enjoyed learning about the golden tabernacle and how it holds the holy bread. We saw statues of Jesus and Mary and found a special light that when lit, represented God’s presence in the Church.
Father Suresh visited us in our classroom to talk about Baptism. He brought along his baby Mikie and baptised him in front of the class. Father Suresh explained how when a person is baptised they become part of the church community as they are welcomed into God’s family.
