Dear Parents & Guardians,
This coming Sunday we celebrate the incredible women who have shaped our lives with love, guidance, and unwavering support - our mothers. To all the mums, grandmothers, stepmothers and mother figures out there, we want to express our deepest gratitude for the countless sacrifices you’ve made and the endless love you’ve given. Your strength, wisdom and boundless affection inspire us every day.
On Sunday, we hope you all take a moment to reflect on the immeasurable impact mothers have on our lives and express our appreciation for all they do. Our students have spent time creating treasures to share with you - whether through a heartfelt message, a warm hug, or a thoughtful gesture, we hope your day on Sunday is a celebration filled with love and gratitude.
Thank you to Linda Perry, Kylie Wilson, Michelle Bergman, Tam Pels, Jessican Brown & Jasmine Tuttle for your organisation of our Mother’s Day Stall and the time spent preparing the items for purchase!
A reminder that there is ‘No right turn’ from the school carpark. We ask that you use only designated parks on the roadway and do not park over driveways. Your efforts to use the school crossings and not park in front of the businesses in the Wyndham Road Shopping complex have been much improved - thank you for your consideration. I ask that you continue to be mindful of other road users at the busy start and end of each day.
As we head into the colder months, please respect the health and wellbeing of other students and staff. If your child is unwell, please keep them home.
Mother’s Day at Holy Rosary Catholic School
We will celebrate Mother’s Day on Sunday the 12th May. We are encouraged to think more seriously about the importance of women in our families.
Mother’s Day began with a simple domestic gesture that caught on. People were encouraged to give a present to their mothers to acknowledge their love and their service to their family.
Mother’s Day reminds us of the importance for any society of mothering – of giving priority and time to raising children and making a home in which all are valued, and all are listened to compassionately.
In modern societies in which mothers are also engaged in demanding work the gifts and the time involved in these forms of nurturing cannot be left to women who have borne children but must be encouraged and developed in men, women and children.
Mothering also crosses generations. Grandmothers are an integral part of the life of most families. They are honoured not simply because of their past role as mothers but for the way in which they continue to nurture people in the present.
If mothering is necessary in society, too, we must look at how we support mothers. Many women in the most important work for society such as working in nursing homes are kept in precarious and poorly remunerated work. Our society can be better than that in its treatment of all women including mothers.
Our Holy Rosary Students have been busily involved with preparing thoughtful and creative gifts for the mothers and grandmothers in their lives.
We especially thank the members of our school community who prepared and volunteered their skills and time to create an amazing Mother’s Day stall for our very enthusiastic and excited buyers looking for an authentic and thoughtful gift for their much-loved mothers and grandmothers. Thank you.
2024 began with a bang with 5M and 5B adjusting quickly and settling into life in Grade 5. This year we have been learning about empathy, compassion and friendship. We have been building our teamwork and leadership skills, and have been introduced to and spent time with our Grade 1 buddies.
In Term 1 we were fortunate to have been visited by Marty from MJR who spoke to us about resilience, respect and never giving up. We had the opportunity to demonstrate our knowledge of Holy Week through our performance of The Stations of the Cross. We rounded off our first term with a bush walk around Shag Bay, taking time to connect with land and reflect on how it has changed over time.
We are looking forward to continuing our great start to the year, onwards and upwards
Grade 5!
Drizzling rain and all rugged up, a few staff set off to meet our few keen walkers.
The group may have been smaller this year than in the past, we will thank the weather Gods for that, but we all had a good time, walking, chatting, and breathing in the fresh air. There’s nothing better than the smells of the grass and flowers, after a nice soft rain.
We arrived at school to the joy of getting an apple.
Remember, regular exercise, especially walking, can improve self-esteem and confidence, help concentration and improve overall fitness.
